Gertrude Dix was born on 26 January 1875 at Ohio.2,3 She married William Charles Postlethwaite, son of J. C. Postlethwaite and Louisa (McClung) Postlethwaite, in 1899; In the 1900 census, Gertrude and William are in Kansas living as a couple with no children. In 1930 Gertrude declares that she was 24 at her first marriage. We therefore conclude that they were married in 1899, probably in Kansas but possibly in Ohio since William's mother was from Ohio.
