[S792] Union Democrat, 25 Feb 1920, Online Edition, A Groveland home plunged in sorrow: Mrs. Robert Nelson whose husband is a blacksmith on the Hetch Hetchy project, succumbed to an attack of influenza at the family home in Big Oak Flat last Monday, after a short illness. It was early known to Dr. H. D. Rose that the malady had so afflicted Mrs. Nelson that her chances of recovery were very slight, but everthing possible known to medical science was done in the treatment of her case, but without avail.
Mrs. Nelson was a member of the well-known pioneer McCarthy family of that section and was born and reared at Big Oak Flat. She was 35 years old. She was popular among a host of friends in her home section, and deep sorrow is manifested at her departure. She was the ideal wife and mother, and the sympathy of the community goes out to the grief stricken husband and the four motherless children, two boys and two girls, who survive her.
The funeral was conducted by Undertaker Burden at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday. Preceding interment a Mass for the repose of her soul was celebrated by Rev. Father Moiyneux, who paid a high tribute to the character of deceased.
