After the war Stan returned to the National Park Service, where he went on to serve as Acting Superintendent at Glacier National Park (Montana); and Superintendent at Big Bend National Park (Texas), Everglades National Park (Florida), and the Cape Cod National Seashore (Massachusetts). From Cape Cod Stan, Ruth and their family moved to Washington DC where he served in the office of the Director of the National Park Service, Department of the Interior. Stan also worked with the development team for the Gateway National Recreation Area in New York City and across the river in New Jersey.⁸ He finished his 40 year service in Santa Fe, New Mexico, at the National Park Service Southwest Regional office as the Regional Coordinator for Federal and State lands and parks.

Stan and Ruth retired to Pine Mountain Lake near Groveland, California and Yosemite National Park. They lived out their lives as active and loved members of the community.⁹
