The last entry for a son could be either John or Louis, as your interpretation might indicate. I do not see anything that looks like James to me. We have 9 children and Marilyn Roberts who wrote the book says 7. She does not have either James or Louis listed and after reading the 1910 census, I would delete them from the family. But then who was born 1894??????? I will contact Marilyn and see what I can figure out.

Dean W. Coffey was born on 11 January 1918 at Elk City, Oklahoma.1 He was the son of Fielding A Coffey and Mrs. Estella Coffey.2,3 Dean W. Coffey married Bernice (Reynolds) Coffey, daughter of Wallace David Reynolds and Ora Ethel Cannon, before 1952. Dean W. Coffey died on 11 March 2003 at Sonora, Tuolumne Co., California, at age 85.1
He appeared on the census of 1920 as a 23-month-old son in the household of Fielding A Coffey and Estella Coffee at Otter Creek, Kiowa Co., Oklahoma; TP 4N 18W and 4N 19W.2 Dean W. Coffey appeared on the census of 1930 as 12-year-old Dean, a son in the household of Fielding A Coffey and Mrs. Estella Coffey at Ford Precinct, Scotts Bluff Co., Nebraska.3 Dean Coffey came to Tuolumne County as a contractor's Construction Superintendent on the building of the "new" Moccasin Powerhouse which went into service in 1969. When construction was complete, he went to work for the City of San Francisco's Hetch Hetchy Project Operations Division, serving as Construction Inspector and Assistant Superintendent of Maintenance and Repair. He later transferred to San Francisco, serving as head of the San Francisco Water Department and also the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission.

Although many Hetch Hetchy field workers played cards during work breaks and after meals at the Moccasin, Early Intake and O'Shaughnessy Dam bunkhouses, Dean never played with them. He told at least one co-worker that he had been a professional card player in his younger days and was banned from playing at the tables in any of the Nevada casinos. At least one story occasionally floating around Moccasin said that Dean was a professional gambler in Jackson, Amador Co. while his wife, Bernice, ran a brothel!
