Death has claimed another of the county's highly respected pioneers in the person of Mrs. Ann Munn. She passed to eternal rest at her home on Moccasin Creek last Saturday, surrounded by her loving children.
Mrs. Munn was born in Ireland 78 years ago, coming to this county in the full flush of the placer mining excitement. Her husband, Daniel Munn was one of the most prominent and popular men of the county. His death many years ago left Mrs. Munn to do battle alone with life's problems, made harder by a large family of little children. But she loyally paid the duty of motherhood and saw her children grow up and occupy worthy stations in life. For half a century the deceased had lived on Moccasin Creek. She was a woman of kindly disposition, generous and charitable, and liked by all who knew her. The surviving children are Mrs. J. M. Phelan of Groveland, Robert Munn of Chinese Camp, and John Munn of Moccasin Creek, all of whom have the sympathy of the people in the loss of their found parent.
The funeral took place Monday, interment being made in the Catholic cemetery at Big Oak Flat. The attendance was very large, attesting the high esteem in which deceased was held by neighbors and friends.
The Union Democrat on 21 May 1910. She Leaves all to Children and Grand Children:

________
Note that Patrick and James both died in Bodoie in 1879. James is reported buried at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, but Patrick is not. Where is Patrick buried? Why were both brothers not broought home for burial?

Addtional Note:

The 1980 mortality schedule shows Patrick Phelans name crossed out. It reads that he was a 22 year old policeman that died of pneaumonia in September of 1879. Perhaps his name is crossed out because his death did not occur in Tuolumne County?

James Phelan is clearly enumerated on the mortality schedule as being a farmer aged 19 when he died of inflamation of the brain in August of 1879.1,2
He appeared on the census of 13 September 1860 as a 1-month-old male infant in the household of Michael Phelan and Hanora (Maher) Phelan McCormick at Jacksonville, Tuolumne Co., California.3

In January of 1995, the Southern Tuolumne Co. Historical Society received grants to build a Mini-Museum in the basement of the Grovelaned Community Hall. Helen Cohen designed the imaginative displays.

She creates historically accurate "rooms" in cast off, obsolete and out-of-style items, guts the interiors of the objects and then creates tiny dioramas inside. For instance, a pink flour canister is no longer in a 1950s kitchen; the kitchen is now in the pink flour canister.2
