    Previous researchers have suggested that the Joyce Grandchildren, buried in Our Lady of Mount Carmel cemetery refers to the grandchildren of Martin Joyce (Gr 235) and his wife Margaret Joyce (Gr 234).
    I propose that they are the grandchildren of Mrs. Katherine Joyce (GR 236 – 240) through her son Michael Joyce and his wife Margaret (Flaherty) Joyce. This theory is based on the following:
    There are no known children of Martin & Margaret Joyce other than their adopted daughter Maggie Forrest b. in Nevada ca 1866;
    Martin Joyce and his sister-in-law Catherine Joyce were enumerated living in the same household in the 1900 census of Twp. 3, Tuolumne Co., CA Both were widowed and born in Ireland;
    It seems likely Katherine Joyce who died in 1922 was the mother of Michael Joyce because in 1920 she was living next door to Michael & Margaret Joyce and their two daughters Kathryn (b. ca 1900 in CA) and Isabell (b. ca 1905 in CA).
