    He was an active elder at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Greeley Hill. His family said that anyone who had the opportunity to meet him instantly took a liking to him. No matter who you were, he always made you feel welcome and always put a smile on your face, they said.
    Mr. Arnold is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Terri Arnold of Oakley and robert and Wanda Arnold of Jamestown; grandson, Thomas Arnold of Oakley; granddaughters, Shanda Arnold-Eppers of Twin Falls, Idaho, Jamie Arnold of Shippensburg, Penn., and Kimberlee Arnold of Jamestown; step-granddaughters, Christina Schaffer and Jessica Van-Tassle, both of Sonora; and three great-grandchildren.

    William "Bill" Donovan: William "Bill" Donovan of Groveland died at home on Aug. 14, 2005. He was 80 years old.
    A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday in Sonora. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday at Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Groveland. Burial will follow at Groveland Cemetery.

    Born April 8, 1925, in Wilson, Okla., he graduated from Oklahoma Military Academy and was a pharmacist mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed as a Yolo County game warden from 1965 to 1984 and was one of the first seismic wardens in the state. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited and Safari Club. His hobbies included hunting and fishing, working in his vegetable garden and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Delma Patricia Donovan; his son, Tim Donovan and his wife Lynda of Davis; and his daughters, Patricia Bock of San Geronimo, and Christine Gookin and her husband Louis of Columbia. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Betty Nunes and her husband Dan of Dixon; Carol Galli and her husband Michael of Davis; Timothy James Bishop-Donovan of Davis; Del N. Donovan of Davis; Monica Bock of Larkspur; Christopher Donovan Bock of San Geronimo; Emily Graham and her husband Shawn of Copperopolis; and Scott Gookin, Peter Gookin and his wife Lynn, and Frank Gookin and his wife Angela, all of Columbia; and his great-grandchildren, Taryn Nunes, Johnathan Galli, William James and Timothy Richard Bishop, Nathan, Jacob and Cooper Gookin, Josie Gookin, Alana and Lindsey-Rose Gookin, and Alyssa and Nicholi Graham.

    William ‘Bill' J. Donovan April 8, 1925 – Aug. 14, 2005
    Longtime Groveland resident William "Bill" J. Donovan died Sunday at his home. He was 80.
    He was born in Wilson, Okla., and had lived in Groveland for 21 years. He graduated from Oklahoma Military Academy in 1943, where he played polo and became a marksman. He served in the U.S. Navy until 1946, when he met his future wife, Delma, who was a U.S. Navy nurse. He moved to Sonora in 1946 and worked at Pickering Lumber Co., and the Sunbeam Bread Co., before joining the Department of Fish and Game at Basin Creek in 1954.
    He moved in 1955 to the Moccasin Creek Fish Hatchery and lived there until 1962, when he became a Fish and Game warden in Yolo County. He lived in Davis until his retirement in 1983, when he moved to Groveland.
    He served as a chapter president of the California State Employee's Association, hunting safety instructor, member of the Moccasin School District board, volunteer fireman for the City of Davis, and director of the Oak Grove Cemetery District. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Safari Club.
    He was an avid hunter, salmon fisherman, gardener, cook and reader of hunting books, particularly those chronicling early Africa hunting tales.
    Mr. Donovan is survived by his wife of 59 years, Delma (Bisordi) Donovan, of Groveland; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Lynda Donovan, of Davis; daughters and son-in-law, Christine and Louie Gookin, of Columbia, and Patricia Bock, of San Geronimo; grandchildren, Scott, Pete and Frank Gookin, all of Columbia, Emily Graham, of Copperopolis, Christopher Bock, of San Geronimo, Monika Bock, of Larkspur, Marin County, Betty Nunes, of Dixon, Solano County, and Carol Galli, Tim Bishop and Del Donovan, all of Davis; 12 great-grandchildren; cousins, Flo Funderberg, of Sonora, Ken O'Donovan, of Marina, Hazel Fender, of Buena Park, Orange County, and Hazel Hannah and Carol Minyard, of Arkansas; nephews, Raymond Leon Bisordi, of Burbank, Larry Bisordi, of Dos Palos, Merced County, and Robert Bisordi, of Fair Oaks; a niece, Dawn Ashbach, of Washington; his longtime hunting partner, Reid Auser, of Jamestown; and many friends.

    Columbia resident Robert E. Sidoff died July 4 at his home. He was 89.
    Born in Oakland, he grew up in San Francisco and graduated from Palo Alto High School. He later joined the U.S. Navy where he became a pilot stationed on an aircraft carrier and flew Corsair and Hellcat fighter planes over the Pacific Ocean. He met an airline stewardess named Agnes and the couple married in April 1952.
    He worked for NASA building rockets for about 25 years, during which time he worked in Picayune, Miss., and Southern California.
    After his retirement, the couple moved to Pine Mountain Lake, Pioneer, Pinehurst, N.C., and Arnold before settling in Columbia, where he worked as a marshall for Greenhorn Creek Country Club in Angels Camp for 10 years.
    He enjoyed playing golf and meeting new people.
    Mr. Sidoff is survived by his wife of 59 years, Agnes Sidoff, of Columbia; children, Debbie Guest, of Templeton, and Beverly Everhart, of Columbia; grandchildren, Tracy Weidenfeller, of San Diego, Jill Weidenfeller Dicker, of Los Angeles, Colton Silva, of Oakland, and Garrett Everhart, of Fremont; and one great-grandson.
    A private family memorial service is scheduled.

     Charles Adams Vaughan married Eunice May Parrish; Norris, Nettie "Becky" Saturday, November 13, 2010 Nettie Rebecca Becky Vaughan Norris, 87, of Waverly passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2010. Some of the places she worked for the U.S. Government were Fort Lee and Camp Pickett; her favorite places were Hawaii and Guam. Mrs. Norris was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Adams Vaughan and Eunice Mae Parrish Vaughan; her husband, William E. Norris, Jr. and her brothers, Tilman Vaughan, Percy Vaughan, Frederick Vaughan, and Isaac Vaughan. Mrs. Norris is survived by her son, Richard E. Norris and his wife, Amanda; granddaughter, Caroline Norris; sister, Agnes Mae Sidoff and husband, Robert; sister-in-law, Virginia Vaughan and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Waverly United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Waverly Cemetery. The Purviance Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Wakefield is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Waverly Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
