Former Coulterville resident Clint Mentzer died Friday at his home in Coarsegold. He was 65.
He was born in Coulterville to "Buzz" and GayNell Mentzer. He was a graduate of Mariposa County High School and began his 26-year career with the California Department of Forestry as a seasonal firefighter at Coulterville. He worked his way up to battalion chief in the Coarsegold District, where he retired after a heart attack in 1986....

GayNell Moles died at her son's home in Coarsegold, Madera County. She was 84. She was born in Oneonta, Ala., one of Dora and Luther Bradberry's 11 daughters. In 1931, her large family left Alabama in a Model T school bus and two years later they arrived in Sonora. They all lived together in the old Pachinni building on Sonora's Stewart Street until 1934. They then moved to Greeley Hill, where her father built the family a two-room home. She studied in the original one-room schoolhouse at Greeley Hill and later attended Mariposa High School. She worked as an assistant postmaster for Coulterville until 1959 when she was promoted to postmaster, a position she held for many years and later retired from. GayNell Moles died at her son's home in Coarsegold, Madera County. She was 84. She was born in Oneonta, Ala., one of Dora and Luther Bradberry's 11 daughters. In 1931, her large family left Alabama in a Model T school bus and two years later they arrived in Sonora. They all lived together in the old Pachinni building on Sonora's Stewart Street until 1934. They then moved to Greeley Hill, where her father built the family a two-room home. She studied in the original one-room schoolhouse at Greeley Hill and later attended Mariposa High School. She worked as an assistant postmaster for Coulterville until 1959 when she was promoted to postmaster, a position she held for many years and later retired from.
