My grandparents, Pete and Lena Varni with a partner Ernie Lemke, bought the hotel from Charlotte DeFerrari on 3 February 1948. They owned it for quite some time. My grandfather passed and my grandmother signed her half over to Ernie Lemke on 20 March 1950. Later they were married and owned it together. I have reserched the county records trying to find when they sold the hotel. They sold it, then something happened and the buyers couldn't pay any longer so they got it again when I was young. We spent many Thanksgivings there I think between 1961 and 1967. Then they sold it again and moved to Carmichael. Jose said that there may be records at the library or museum in town that I might be able to go through. I haven't checked yet. If there are any records that you know of, please let me know.
