A funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Franklin & Downs Colonial
Chapel in Modesto for Guthrie Lee Tate, 87, who died Monday in Turlock.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 1:30
p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson
will follow the funeral.

A native of Oklahoma, Mrs. Tate had lived in Turlock 39 years. She was
a homemaker and member of the Golden State Mobile Home League and the Pentecostal
Church.

She is survived by two sons, Jack Massey of Turlock and Lloyd Vest of Kansas;
three daughters, Alma Fuller and Cleo Vest, both of Oklahoma, and Maxine
Talley of Modesto; three brothers, Joe Guinn of Delhi, James Guinn of Groveland
and Harold Guinn of Hardin Flat; two sisters, Skip Galusha of Delhi and
Virginia Jayne of Cloverdale; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren;
and eight great-great-grandchildren.1
     Her married name was Mrs. Guthrie (Guinn) Tate.

     Carl Erick Schone was born on 17 February 1920 at Vad, Sweden.1 He was the son of Karl Schone and Mrs. Esther C Schone. Carl Erick Schone married Audrey Josephine Johnson, daughter of Erick Richard (Erik Rickard) Johnson (Jansson), on 17 February 1948.2 Carl Erick Schone died on 26 July 2006 at Sonora, Tuolumne Co., California, at age 86; SSDI gives his last known reisence as Big Oak Flat, Tuolumne Co., California.3
     He appeared on the census of 11 April 1930 at Easton, Steele County, North Dakota.4 Between 1948 and 1963Carl Erick Schone and Audrey (Johnson) Schone served as missionaries at Venezuela.5

    Big Oak Flat resident Carl "Erick" Schone died July 26 at a Sonora hospital. he was 86.

    He was born in Vad, Sweden and immigrated to the United States with his family when he was 8. He was a graduate of the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. He married Audrey Johnson of tilden, Neb., in 1948 and went on a mission to Venezuela from 1948 to 1961. Their son was born in 1950 and ther daughter in 1957. During furloughs, he finished his bachelor's degree.

    The Schone family returned to the United States and he pastored churches in Fremont, Groveland, madera, Modesto and Oakdale. He also held a second job in order to start some of the new congregations. His family an dmany friends supported his ministry. His wife retired to Groveland in 990 and he continued to serve as a visitation volunteer for the Groveland Evangelical Free Church. He also continued to fill in and preach at several local area churches as a guest minister until his death. He had lived in Big Oak Flat for 16 years.

    Mr. Scone is survived by s wife, Audrey Schone, of Big Oak Flat; a son and daughter-in-law, Torrey "Richard" and Cathy Schone of Big Oak Flat; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret "Maggie" and Russel Hagen of Stockton; grandchildren, Amber Ruhl and her husband Jacob; Adam Schone; David and Keith Hagen; a sister, Gunhilde Johnson of Turlock; nieces and nephews Carl Leon Schone, Karl, Jan and Torrey Pearson, Crs Tabke, Gwen Guinn, Grlotte Myr, Larry Schone and Linda Sait; 17 nieces and nephews-in-law; and many cousins.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Esther Schone; brothers Col. Carl Schone and John Schone; a sister, Doris Pearson; and a niece, Beverly Johnson Peterson.

    A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at the Groveland Evangelical Free Church, 19172 Ferretti Road in Groveland. Donations can be made to Groveland Evangelical Free Church.

     Audrey (Johnson) Schone was born on 28 September 1923 at Tilden, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Erick Richard (Erik Rickard) Johnson (Jansson).
