The children were sent to a home in Santa Rosa where they were badly treated. Alinas and Florence (Hill) Douglas moved with their youngest daughter, Nellie, to care for the children. They lived first in Santa Rosa, but soon moved to Tuolumne County to the homestead in Big Oak Flat that had been purchased jointly by Jody and Bright Scofield and thier wives Winnie and Addie Douglas. In 2006, Winnie and Harold were living on the homestead.4,5 As of 15 April 1910, Alinas Cole Douglas was also known as Almas C. Eaton is buried, but there was no sign of Nellie. My fellow Oak Grove Cemetery District Trustee, Peggy Andrews, went to the Tuolumne County Recorders Office today and learned that Nellie was cremated and her ashes were scattered in Dodge Meadow. Nellie isn't buried next to her husband at the Divide and doesn't have a headstone or other memorial at the Divide Cemetery in Big Oak Flat.3
