On the 12th instant, Mary Carmody, supposed to be the oldest person in this town, died at the residence of her son John O'Donnell in this place in the 94th year of her age. The deceased was born in the County of Clare, Ireland in 1795 where she was twice married. Five of her children came to this country before her and after the death of her second husband in 1854 she followed them. In 1861 she came to reside with her son John O'Donnelly in this place where she remained until her death. She was a most worthy woman and was highly esteemed by all her acquaintances. She was a vigorous woman both in body and mind and it is believed that were it not for an accident that injured her hip a few years since and from which she never recovered she would have lived to be a hundred years old. She leaves two sons and four daughters who are all themselves of mature age. The sons reside here. Two daughters Margarett and Kate live in California, Anna in New Hampshire and Bridget in Ireland.
