He and Adelle G Kirkland Jack and Adele Kirkland were already property owners at PML when we arrived in 1977. Their home was on Chaffee Cr. fronting on the goft course, a Tony Smith modified A-frame that was a popular vacation rental because of its location. For their permanent retirement home, they built just above Ginny and Lee Brown above the Lake Lodge. Forest Wood Way? Jack was a VP with a major bank, possibly Bank of America. They were both warm and down to earth people. Jack died very suddenly on mid-week afternoon -- I don't know if he was pronounced at home, or if he was transported to Sonora and died there. I don't remember if Adele died before 2007, or if she moved off the Hill to be closer to children.
--- Although born in Brooklyn, Jack Kirkland's manner and style reflected his mother's southern roots.
--- both Kirklands were tennis players. Jack S Kirkland appeared on the census of 1930 as a 10 year old son in the household of Othellan Fruge and Gertrude (Williams) Fruge at Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York. It is likely he was the son of Catherine Kirkland rather than the son of Gertrude and Othellan Fruge; at least one obituary index say Jack Kirkland was from Brooklyn NY. Is this the correct Kirkland?3
