She was born in Philadelphia and had lived in Pine Mountain Lake since 1978. She was primarily a homemaker and was part owner of Groveland Travel Service for more than 10 years, during which time she traveled extensively all over the world.
She served in the U.S. Army Women's Air Corps with the rank of staff sergeant during World War II in the European theater.
She enjoyed her swimming and exercise groups, reading, knitting, traveling, working with the Friends of Groveland Library and spending time with her family, her family said.

Mr. Williams is survived by daughters Kandace Williams, of Jamestown, and Sheila Dougall, of Groveland; grandchildren, Russ Metzger, of Eagle, Idaho, Brian Dougall, of Mammoth Lake, and Tyler Dougall, of Paradise; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Lavonda Steffen, of Erick, Okla.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Oak Grove Cemetery in Groveland.

Greta Weber Sturm died suddenly on Marh 14, 2009. Services were held March 21 at
the Groveland Evangelical Free Church. She was the current president of the Pine Cone Singers.2

Longtime Pine Mountain Lake resident Frances Haffen died tuesday at a Soulsbyville care home. She was 80.
She was born in San Mateo. She had lived at Pine Mountain Lake for 22 years and, most recently, in Soulsbyville. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Sacramento and San Mateo, and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Louis Gucinski, of Pine Mountain Lake; a niece, Lynn O'Neill, of Oakdale; and nephews, William O'Neill, of Thompson Falls, Mont., Robert O'Neill, of Costa Rica, Richard O'Neill, of Ripon, Dennis O'Neill, of Morgan Hill, Donald Renfrew, and Lindsey Renfrew, of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Shore.
Services were held.

David R. Hopper of Groveland died Sunday at his home after a long illness. He was 52.
He was born in Phoenix, Ariz., and has lived in Groveland for 12 years. He worked as a manager for Valley Lumber in big Oak Flat for 12 years.
He was a member of Foothills Community church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the National Rifle Association (NRA). He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His family said he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golf, reading, movies and fixing things.
Mr. Hopper is survived by his wife, Pamela Hopper of Groveland; a son, Thomas Wade of Groveland; a daughter, Kimberlee Wade of Fresno; and a sister, Merrie Hopper of Santa Rosa.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. tomorrow at Groveland Evangelical Free church, 19172 Ferretti Road in Groveland.
