He and his wife, Lonnie Roman,moved to Groveland nine years ago to enjoy a slower pace of life.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Big Oak Flat and Sons in Retirement Branch 136.
He enjoyed traveling, golf and gardening.
Mr. Roman was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Roman; and one niece.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lonnie Roman, of Groveland; daughters, Susan Roman, of Newark, and Pam Chesbro, of Fremont; brother-in-law, Larry Galperin, of San Antonio, Tex.; sisters-in-law, Jackie Schulze, of Beaverton, Ore., and Donna Dewey, of Visalia; and grandchildren, Josh Roman, of Newark, Stacey Chesbro, of Aurora, Colo., Dwight Chesbro, of San Francisco, Kristina Chesbro, of Oakland, and Aiden Myatt, of Fremont; and three nieces; and two nephews.
A memorial service will be held noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Grill at Pine Mountain Lake Golf Course, 12765 Mueller Drive, Groveland.

Along with her husband, she was a founding member of the Friends of the Lake Association, the annual swim race and the Fourth of July boat parade at Pine Mountain Lake. She was a member of the Groveland Evangelical Free Church.
Mrs. Rosenbaum was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Rosenbaum, in 1985.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard R. Rosenbaum, of Groveland; her children and their spouses, Joseph and Kristin Rosenbaum, of Moraga, James Rosenbaum, of Carmichael, and Linda and Steve Rhodes, of Danville; grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan and Kyle Rhodes, of Danville, and Connor and Hunter Rosenbaum, of Moraga.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. June 22 at the Groveland Evangelical Free Church, 19172 Ferretti Road. La Grange resident Jeanne Marie Cowper died Tuesday at her home. She was 89.
Mrs. Cowper was born in Los Angeles to Paul and Cleo Sullivan.
She retired to La Grange from Balboa Island in 1977.
Mrs. Cowper was an artist for most her life and enjoyed watercolors, wall paper design and cartooning. She later focused on oil painting.
She was preceded in death by her older sister, Dolly Tukey, in 1992.
She is survived by a son, Etienne Cowper, of Temecula; and brother, Paul Sullivan, of Sammamish, Wash.
