Hall is said to have died in a boiler explosion in Liverpool during WWI.1,3,4 According to cemetery records, Charles C. Hall was buried in 1918 at Divide Cemetery 4:204, Big Oak Flat, Tuolumne Co., California. Burden mortuary records indicate he was buried on 1 September 1920 at Big Oak Flat.4,5

     James Hall was born on 17 January 1891 at California.2 He was the son of Charles P. Hall and Alice Mecartea.1 James Hall died on 2 September 1948 at Tuolumne Co., California, at age 57.3 Although there is no marker for him at the Divide Cemetery, it is likely that James is buried there. Note that Jams survived his mother by only a few months.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Groveland Evangelical Free Church and Church of Nazarene in Richmond. She was an avid Bible reader and enjoyed flower gardening and cooking.

    She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John Hammon Groveland; a daughter and son-in-law, Ethel Ann and Francis Watson of Orinda; sisters, Margaret Merrit and Anne Connolly, both of Ohio; a sister-in-lase, Mary Lou Spurgeon; grandchildren, Ron and Jeff Sapp, Debbie Brasier and Gina McCauley; and six grandchildren, Sheena, Cameron, Britney, Connor, Meghan and Fiona.

    Visitation is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home, followed by a chapel service at noon. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Groveland.
    Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Harper, came to California in 1853 from his native Philadelphia, at the age of 31, travelling by way of the Isthmus of Panama. After working in the redwood lumber industry which had started in San Mateo County, he set out in May 1854, following the Tuolumne river in search of gold. Eventually, he arrived at Big Oak Flat where he mined and worked as a carpenter. In 1872, he was married to the late Ellen McLaughlin of Big Oak Flat. Their two sons never married....

    The subject of this sketch was born in Philadelphia, December 16, 1822, and resided there until 1853, when he came to California, by way of the Isthmus, and arrived in San Francisco October 20, 1853. From San Francisco he went to the redwoods of San Mateo County, and remained there until May 9, 1854, and then removed to Big Oak Flat, where he has resided since that time. He mined about eight years at Big Oak Flat and vicinity, and has followed his trade of carpenter since. He married Ellen McLaughlin, in 1872, and has two children, named Edwin F. and Charles F.
