     He was a plumber for 18 years with San Franciso's Dept of Recreation and Parks. In 1972 he transferred to the Hetch Hetchy at Moccasin as Asst Superintendent of Maintenance and Repair; plumber.2 He was retired circa 1989 from Hetch Hetchy Water and Power at Moccasin, Tuolumne Co., California, as Superintendent of Maintenance and Repair.3

    Sonora resident William "Bill" Retzlaff died Saturday at Sonora Regional Medical Center. He was 84. Born in San Francisco to Bertha and William Retzlaff, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a plumber for the City of San Francisco's Recreation and Park Department for 18 years before being transferred to Moccasin in 1972, where he went on to retire as the superintendent of maintenance and repair for the Hetch Hetchy Project. He lived in Sonora almost 40 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time in a cabin he had in Boonville for many years. He especially enjoyed traveling across the country in his plane or trailer, to Europe and South America, and out-of-state for hunting and fishing trips. He was a member of Sons in Retirement, Elks Lodge, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Helvetian Gun Club and Plumbers Union Local 38.
    Mr. Retzlaff is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores Retzlaff, of Sonora; daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Michael Read, of Burlingame; grandsons, Aaron and wife Emily Read, of Pacifica, and Tyson Read, of Berkeley; and a niece.
    A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 127 W. Jackson St., Sonora. Donations can be made to the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 127 W. Jackson St., Sonora, CA 95370.

The FamilySearch record gives a death date of 10 Feb 1918 without giving a place of death, while the Ancestry file uses the 1923 death date. Needs clarification.1,5

    --Adam was the tenth child of Frederick Hetrick and Elizabeth Doverspike. He married his first cousin, Maria J. Hetrick, about 1849. They had eight children: Mary "Matilda" (married Samuel Duggan, then Abraham Miller); Philip Martin (married Eva Anna Mork); Esther A.;
    George R.; Eliza Q. (married Charles C. Conger); Perry Harrison; Jessie (died at 14 months); and Amos Walter.
    -- The Hetrick family moved from Pennsylvania to Dodge county, Nebraska, during the Civil War. Children Esther, George, and Perry all died on 9 and 10 June 1882 of measles. Maria died 7 May 1886 of the same disease. Adam's second wife was Mrs. Nancy Jane (Robinson) Wood, who survived him and is also buried in Kalispell. They were married 14 November 1887 in Logan, Harrison, Iowa. They had no children. After their marriage, Adam and Nancy moved to Kalispell, where Adam owned a 320-acre fruit farm.
