House sat at the NW corner of Scofield & Hwy 120. The original portion dates back to late 1850s when Alexander Gamble owned the home. It later ended up in the McCarthy famiy and was sold to Mrs. Ellen May Harper in 1894 and remained in the Harper family until purchased by C.E. & Evelyn Eisenhauer.

From Groveland [the family] moved to Big Oak Flat, and by the time Maude started school [circa 1909] the family lived in Rawhide and still later Quartz. Then in 1916 [his wife] died, and the childern were scattered around. Maude's older sister and her brother went to live with an aunt, Lena Ferretti, on the Ferretti Ranch outside Groveland. Maude and her other sister lived with an aunt at the McCauley Ranch near Bower Cave; a miner.⁸ He was in 1904 at Groveland, Tuolumne Co., California.⁹ He appeared on the census of 1910 at 4th Twp, Tuolumne Co., California.¹⁰
