     Joseph Harten was born on 1 May 1861 at California; Closer to 1865?1,3 He was the son of Thomas Douglas Harten and Mrs. Mary Harten.2 Joseph Harten married Mary (Nye) Ogden Harten Forsberg, daughter of Charles H Nye and Angeline (Flack) Nye McAlee, on 25 May 1896 at Big Oak Flat, Tuolumne Co., California.4 Joseph Harten died on 29 October 1940 at Tuolumne Co., California, at age 79.1,3,5 He was buried at Divide Cemetery 4:220, Big Oak Flat, Tuolumne Co., California.1
     He appeared on the census of 1880 as a son in the household of Thomas Douglas Harten and Mrs. Mary Harten at 4th Township, Tuolumne Co., California; This family lived in Deer Flat. They were enumerated next door to the John and Catherine Corcoran family.6 The Union Democrat reported on 10 March 1900 that Joseph Harten and Charles P.      Thomas Douglas Harten was born in March 1834 at Ireland; Note conflict: Oak Grove Cem Dist records show he was born 1832 in Vermont, while 1880 census says he was born in Maine and the 1900 census reports born Mar 1834 in Ireland.1,2 He married Mrs. Mary Harten circa 1860;

presumed husband and wife, despite middle initial conflict -- confirm against census records. Also note that 1900 census call the father Thomas D Harten. He was a widower by 1900, and had a known wife Mary (per 1870 census.)3 Thomas Douglas Harten died on 25 October 1905 at Tuolumne Co., California, at age 71.1,4 He was buried at Divide Cemetery 4:221, Big Oak Flat, Tuolumne Co., California.1

This is the predecessor of the NACO/Thousand Trails campground operating by 2000. at Hardin Flat, Tuolumne Co., California.2 Dellman W. Hartman was also known as D. W. (Del) Hartman.2 He was (an unknown value) before 1922 at partnered with his brother and purchased sawmill at Hardin Flat [South Fork Lumber Company].2

[S1986] Union Democrat, 27 May 1992, unk, Hazel Irene Hope of Groveland, a former waitress and bartender at the Iron door Saloon, died Sunday at a Sonora hospital following an illness of several months. She was 70. Born in Star, Okla., Mrs. Hope lived in Fresno before moving to Groveland 20 years ago.
    She had a 40-year career as a waitress, including 10 years work at the Iron Door, where she retired about 10 years ago.
    Known as Grandma Hazel or Mama Hazel, "depending on how old you were," said her daughter Chris Carlile, Mrs. Hope played guitar and sang and enjoyed taking gambling trips to Nevada. She was an avid gardener and a frequent participant in the Groveland Old West Days.
    Mrs. Hope is survived by two daughters, Chris Carlile of Groveland and Phyllis Haslan of Fresno; two sons, Gerald Perry of Groveland and John Jackson of Santa Cruz; a sister, Bertha Wright of San Jose; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil Hope, a longtime Tuolumne county resident.
    Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Terzich-Wilson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Groveland.
    Donations in Mrs. Hope's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 73, Jamestown.
