He lived at Pine Mountain Lake where he loved to golf and to spend time with his pals at the Country Club. Pete and Annie have four daughters, 2 in America and 2 in Scotland. Because of their shared homeland and some common interests, Pete and Annie were close to Mark and Andrea Nouillan.
Shortly after he retired from the Hetchy circa 2004, Annie noticed that Pete's speech was beginning to slur and that he was loosing his hand grip. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and underwent surgery at Stanford University Hospital. Although he survived the surgery, he was never quite the same, and was bed-ridden and on hospice care for at least 6 months before his death. on 5 February 2007 at Groveland, Tuolumne Co., California.1
